Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Tuesday received Michael Corbat, Chief Executive Officer of Citigroup.
Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, were present.
During the meeting held at Emirates Towers, Shaikh Mohammad and Corbat discussed a number of financial matters and investment activities in the banking sector.
Shaikh Mohammad welcomed the participants in the Citigroup board meeting, which is being held in Dubai. This is the first time the meeting is held in the Middle East. Shaikh Mohammad stressed that Dubai is a city that always welcomes visitors, and opens the doors before companies, international investments, and businessmen who are looking for an investment environment that is secure and provides many facilities and logistic capabilities.
Corbat, also speaking on behalf of board members, expressed his happiness in holding the group’s second board meeting outside of the US in Dubai. The board meeting was previously held once in London.
Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, and other officials attended the meeting.
