Residents keen on capital's festival
Abu Dhabi residents hope for great times ahead with the summer festival, which began yesterday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre (ADNEC) and will run till August 18.

Dubai: Abu Dhabi residents hope for great times ahead with the summer festival, which began yesterday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre (ADNEC) and will run till August 18.
Gulf News readers from the Capital expect the Summer in Abu Dhabi festival to be a resounding success. "I haven't heard of it but I'd love to check it out and see how it compares to attractions in Dubai", said Aisha Al Beloushi.
The indoor exhibition centre hosts seven themed islands: adventure, action, creativity, fun, imagination, culture and discovery.
Al Beloushi said: "It would also be interesting to see what is being done to involve children, such as on the Culture Island."
At the event, everyone, especially families, is expected to be able to experience various attractions and learn about a wide variety of topics.
"There is always some activity happening in Abu Dhabi, and I'm thrilled to see various cultures living here interacting with each other and learning about different cultures and traditions. Such a festival would help enhance Abu Dhabi's unique presence," said Dr Rocky Termanini.
The attractions being presented at the festival are sure to bring out the child in everyone, by allowing them to explore various avenues alongside the younger generation.
"This festival is perfect because it offers families a new form of entertainment for the summer. It would also help family members interact, not only with what is being offered but also with each other so it would help keep them connected," said Prasanna Kumar.
The event is open to all. Since each of the islands at the exhibition is uniquely designed, there would always be something new to discover.
"This festival sounds like a good place for people to meet and interact with each other. I'm sure many would be interested in visiting and seeing what it has to offer," said Sudhir Menon.
There are those who are well aware of it and are eagerly anticipating its opening. "I heard about the festival and visited their website to see what is being planned. I was searching for something similar last year that I could take my children to. I'm sure many parents would be interested in taking their children as it would be something new that the whole family can enjoy," said Feby Imthias.
