Dubai: Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), recently attended an official meeting of the Higher Board of Directors of Dubai International Financial Centre.

During the meeting, Shaikh Maktoum thanked Abdullah Mohammad Saleh, the Governor of DIFC, for his tireless efforts, presenting him with a prestigious accolade of recognition.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdullah Mohammad Saleh said, “I would like to extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, for the trust he granted me during the period of service as the DIFC Governor and for his support in solidifying Dubai’s position as the destination of choice for financial and business industries. Our accomplishments and achievements were inspired by the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad, which intends to develop the economy of Dubai and the UAE and set an example for others to follow.

“I would also like to express my gratitude to Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of DIFC, for his trust, continued support and wise leadership which contributed to the success of the DIFC. It is an honour to receive this mark of recognition from His Highness for our ongoing efforts towards building the UAE’s financial services sector. We should all work together to serve our country. It is our duty to support its development.”

He added, “I would like to thank the Higher Board of Directors for the continued faith and support bestowed upon me during my time as Governor of DIFC. I feel privileged to have been part of such an esteemed group of individuals and wish them all success for the future. I am also pleased to provide ongoing support to Eisa Kazim to benefit the UAE and to enhance Dubai as the region’s leading international financial centre.”

Effective from January 2014, Eisa Kazim will succeed Saleh as Governor of DIFC, who will remain a member of the DIFC Board of Directors.
