Dubai : UAE-based conglomerate SS Lootah Group said it will allocate Dh220 million for its Green Procurement Programme.

The announcement was made during an orientation event held at the group's headquarters on Saturday about the SME Cleantech Mission to Canada, in the presence of a delegation of UAE entrepreneurs from the Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development (MBRE) participating in the initiative.

The group has been pursuing an active procurement programme with members of MBRE, for which it was recently recognised with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Award for Young Business Leaders as the best private entity support to SMEs.

Suppliers of energy and water technologies and products and green building materials, among others, will benefit from the programme.

Addressing the delegation, Yahya Saeed Lootah, CEO of SS Lootah Group said: "Young UAE entrepreneurs today have a better chance to benefit from the competitive procurement programmes in the private sector with a significant shift in corporate policies in-line with the vision of the nation's leadership, as well as legislation pushing for better use of new technologies in energy and water, recycling and other applications with economic and environmental benefits."
