Dubai: Sanjeev Kapoor, the South Asian cooking guru, is launching an international fast-food chain in the new year.

Describing the concept as more like Indian food served quickly rather than fast food, Kapoor told Gulf News: "The restaurant will evolve to become a quick service experience, which is not the same as a typical fast-food restaurant.

"The future of food is Indian food, or more precisely spicy food. Indian cuisine is the fastest spreading in the world, after Chinese cuisine."

Kapoor will open the second Dubai outlet of his signature restaurant chain, Khana Khazana, within the next few months. "I am also producing a cooking programme for BBC Food as well as working closely with another future TV channel dedicated to cooking." he said following his cooking demonstration at the show.

Kapoor said, he is not in a hurry to expand his signature restaurant across then globe. "I am focussing on building an intellectual property through this chain and help it to be self sustaining rather than keeping on adding new outlets."

Kapoor, a household name in South Asia, is also launching his signature branded spice mix Khazana in the UAE, USA and the UK. These include readymade ingredients including pickles, paste and powdered spice mix that will make cooking fast and easy.

"These will be launched in Dubai in the coming weeks followed by the UK and the USA and then India," he said.

"We have already ordered the raw materials and the products are being processed.

"We are talking to a number of distributors to hep us enter the UAE market. These should hit the stores in a few weeks time."

All the mixes are based on Kapoor's recipes and the quality will be controlled and monitored by the man himself.
