Dubai: Home Centre, the largest home furnishing company in the UAE, unveiled its new look as it opened its new store in Mirdif City Centre, bringing the retailer's UAE network to 11.

Jon Jagtiani, CEO of Home Centre, said: "Des-pite the challenges the country and the region faced last year, we managed to maintain our footfall in our stores, where others in the industry have seen an approximate 20 per cent decline. There are two ways to react to a downturn; stop innovating or invest to corner the market. Home Centre opted for the latter and we are confident the investment will pay off."

Now boasting almost 2.4 million square feet of retail space across the region, its Mirdif City Centre store will be the newest addition to the retail chain which today sees over 12,000 daily visitors.

Home Centre also announced additional branch openings in the region and beyond. In the next six months, the retail giant will be opening a store in Delma Mall in Abu Dhabi as well as two more stores in Saudi Arabia.

Outside the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in the past year Home Centre has opened two stores in Egypt along with four in India.

In addition to the retail expansion, the new store also showcased the new brand being launched by the company. Bringing its logo and layout up to date, the new look is expected to be rolled out across the store network in the coming months.

"While we are all fond of the Home Centre brand, we wanted to revamp the look and feel to reflect the modern and dynamic nature of the city and the region today," Jagtiani added.
