Government begins leaders programme
The UAE Government on Monday announced the launch of a multi-pronged 'UAE Government Leaders Programme', seeking to develop visionary leaders with the potential to drive the strategic objectives of all federal sectors.
Dubai: The UAE Government on Monday announced the launch of a multi-pronged 'UAE Government Leaders Programme', seeking to develop visionary leaders with the potential to drive the strategic objectives of all federal sectors.
Launched under the directive of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the programme will focus on federal employees on three levels.
The 'Strategic Leaders Programme' will target dir-ectors general at the UAE ministries and federal authorities, while the 'Executive Leaders Programme' will focus on executive dir-[ectors and directors in the federal entities. The 'Future Leaders Programme' will be extended to the remaining grades of federal leaders.
The 18-month Executive Leaders Programme is scheduled for an early launch and includes 30 participants. The year-long Strategic Leaders Programme will be launched later this year and brings together 20 participants, while the Future Leaders Programme will be conducted over 18 months for 30 participants.
Top priorities
"Shaikh Mohammad has directed the government to sustain its development strategies while nurturing a new generation of future leaders. Identifying potential leaders on the federal level and investing in enhancing their leadership skills are top priorities on the government's agenda," said Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs.
To be implemented in collaboration with world class universities and training institutions that follow the best international practices, the programme seeks to foster professional competencies, and to provide new insights and thought-provoking experience on the attributes of leadership. Building and guiding efficient teams, and developing clear vision and mission objectives are among the other focus areas of the programme.
The UAE Government Leaders Programme will additionally focus on enhancing core institutional competencies such as Public Financial Management, Talent Management, Information Technology Management, Project Management and Governmental Excellence.
