Dubai: The Global Village registered two million visitors in just seven weeks since it opened last November 22.

Featuring 31 pavilions, and showcasing about 6,000 cultural shows and performances, the Global Village has become a favourite stop for tourists, particularly visitors from Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

Mansour Al Qudah, a Jordanian based in Saudi Arabia, is visiting Dubai with his family. He said that his relatives have enjoyed touring the Global Village.

"It was our first time here at the Global Village. The children loved the games and the rides in this park. We hope to visit again and are looking forward to the next edition."

Emirati brothers Mohammad Al Kamali, Osama Al Kamali and Ahmad Al Kamali said that they love to see the new attractions at the Global Village.

Unique experience

"We have been to the Global Village countless times, but we keep coming back. We drove all the way from Ajman to visit the Global Village. It always has something new."

The Global Village offers shopping, dining, cultural shows, entertaining games, fun fair rides, and a fun outdoor ambience.

Indian expatriate Thajuddin Kamal and his wife Shuhaiba recently enjoyed a Chinese cultural show.

"The Global Village gives us the chance to learn more about world cultures. The park has numerous cultural shows and the performers are amazing. The shows are entertaining and educational at the same time."

Yasmin Al Beih (Egyptian), Khadijah Abdeen (Palestinian) and Anika Khan (Pakistani) go to the Global Village just to have fun. "It provides a different kind of souq atmosphere than most shopping malls. Here, we find good and practical buys that are unique and rare. More so, the park is very engaging."

The outdoor ambience also attracts office colleagues like Elle Flores, Aqib Naseem and Maria Romusod. "We find dining and shopping in malls very unusual. We feel the Global Village is quite special," they said.

Etisalat is the official partner of the 14th edition of the Global Village, which runs from 4pm to midnight except on Thursdays and Fridays when it is extended to 1am.

Mondays are for families only. Tickets are Dh10 each. Entry is free for the disabled and children under three.
