GE Healthcare to provide imaging equipment for hospitals in MEA
GE Healthcare, the $17 billion healthcare and life sciences solutions business of General Electric, on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi German Hospitals Group (SGH), to provide diagnostic imaging equipment for non-profit hospitals in the Middle East and Africa (MEA).

Dubai: GE Healthcare, the $17 billion healthcare and life sciences solutions business of General Electric, on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi German Hospitals Group (SGH), to provide diagnostic imaging equipment for non-profit hospitals in the Middle East and Africa (MEA).
The 5,000 square metre non-profit hospitals will have 50 beds each and will be located in remote areas.
The vision is that these hospitals will provide affordable, reliable and accessible primary healthcare services to larger segments of society.
Service to needy
Sobhi Batterjee, president and CEO, Saudi German Hospitals Group, said the non-profit hospital model is based on delivering quality healthcare services for the needy segment of the population. In return, a subsidised user's fee will secure the long term sustainability of each hospital as an independent entity, with no burden on the selected countries for healthcare expenditures."
SGH will design, construct, equip, operate, and co-finance these hospitals. GE Healthcare will supply some of the necessary diagnostic imaging equipment.
According to Isam Moursy, general manager at GE Healthcare for the Middle East region, they are developing innovative healthcare solutions to help address some healthcare issues such as improving access to quality care in rural communities.
