Finland continues to lead the world in information technology and communication (ICT) competitiveness, according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Information Technology Report.
The country’s digital ICT infrastructure is considered the best in the world, while the percentage of its population with internet access (90 per cent) and the levels of technological and non-technological innovation in the country are the second highest in the world.
The second most techno-savvy economy is Singapore, followed by Sweden, Netherlands and Norway. The United States climbed two places higher from last year to claim the seventh spot, while Hong Kong significantly improved its position, climbing from the 14th to eighth place.
Denmark dropped from eighth to 13th in the rankings, which included more than 100 countries. Canada’s competitiveness also fell significantly, from numbers 12 to 17.
