Ajman: Ferrostaal AG said Friday that it has sold and financed a cable recycling plant to Gulf Star Metals in Ajman which will permit the first machines from this sector to be installed in the UAE.

The plant of the Danish manufacturer Eldan will be able to process around 2.5 tonnes of cables per hour and enable the separated materials to be recycled. Once it has been manufactured and then transported to the UAE, the plant will be assembled in Ajman and will be commissioned in mid-year, the company's spokesman Hubert Kogel said.

Local partner

Joachim Ludwig, member of the Ferrostaal executive board, said: "For customers it is a great advantage that in Ferrostaal they have a local partner who can help them to find and finance projects and can also offer advice and practical assistance for commissioning and subsequent maintenance."

In environmental technology and recycling, Ferrostaal offers plants and system lines for recycling cable scrap, end-of-life tyres, aluminium and magnesium scrap and also refrigerators and waste electrical and electronic equipment. Ferrostaal is expanding its activities in recycling and environmental technology and is taking advantage of its presence in more than 60 countries, the company said.
