Dubai: Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is expanding its e-commerce platform across the emirates, www.Dubiachamber.com/alibaba, allowing members from Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah to join, the industry body announced on Wednesday.
www.Dubaichabmer.com/alibaba, is an e-Commerce platform with over 10,000 members that was launched by the chamber in collaboration with the leading global-portal alibaba.com.
This portal allows its member to display and sell their goods and services to global companies and to embrace the existing journey into the world of e-commerce.
By joining the portal, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah Chambers will be entitled to free customer service and International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) services through the e-commerce Mena (Middle East and North Africa) region club and will also be allotted Certificate of Verified Membership, and a 50 per cent subsidy on the fees for joining the Trusted Membership.
Smart City
This initiative is part of Dubai Chamber’s strategy to apply the concept of smart trade in line with the strategy of transforming Dubai into a Smart City.
“The agreement also strengthens our strategic partnership while creating a distinguished exporting base for our members and traders,” said Hamad Bu Amim, President and CEO of Dubai Chamber.
According to Dubai Chamber, UAE accounts for about 60 per cent of the share of e-commerce in the region and occupies first position in the Mena region and is ranked 25th globally on A.T. Kearney’s global retail e-commerce index.
Michael Lee, Director, International Business Development and Marketing, Alibaba.com, said that his company’s cooperation with Dubai Chamber is serving them in providing specialised services to the Chamber members and the business community in the UAE.
