Dubai: Consumers of packaged organic food in the UAE prefer to buy products they are familiar with, especially those produced outside Asia and the Middle East.
“Local consumers that are interested in organic products really insist that they are produced in Western Europe or North America. They are generally sceptical about the quality of organic products from Asia or the Middle East and the trustworthiness of the organic certification process in those countries,” said Fatemah Sherif of Euromonitor International.
Euromonitor predicted that among the organic products they monitor, organic baby food products will continue to be the strongest category. “The demographics of the country have changed since the economic crisis and many more expatriate families with small children are coming here or young expatriate couples are deciding to start families here,” Sherif said.
“This, along with the strong economic growth boosting purchasing power, will ensure that parents who want the best quality food for their children will continue to purchase organic baby food in the future.”
