Sharjah: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) is urging members of Sharjah's auto spare parts retail sector to develop stronger consumer ties and effective marketing strategies to help bring more economic activity into the emirate.

The call was made during a recent consultative meeting between the Chamber and representatives from Sharjah's car spare parts retail sector.

The meeting, which involved key discussions on how to revive the emirate's auto spare parts industry, was marked by the launch of the "Car Spare Parts Weeks Campaign", the second event in the SCCI's Shopping Weeks promotion — a strategic initiative specially designed to increase sales activity in the emirate and to support associate members by organising promotional campaigns for each segment of the trade and retail sector.

Present during the meeting were Hussain Mohammad Al Mahmoudi, SCCI director heneral; Khalid Bin Butti Bin Obaid, SCCI assistant director-general for membership & branches affairs; and Yaqoub Yousuf Al Qaseer, head of Industrial Development Division, SCCI.

Distribution segment

The meeting arose from the Chamber's commitment to provide assistance to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and help boost retail activity in the emirate. The ‘Car Spare Parts Weeks' follows the recent success of the Mobile Phone Weeks campaign, which highlighted Sharjah's mobile phone trade and distribution segment.

Al Mahmoudi said, "Sharjah's auto spare parts retail sector is one of the country's largest retail segments, which is provided impetus through key import, re-export, sale and purchase transactions."
