Dubai: Al Futtaim Motors, the distributors for Toyota and Lexus vehicles said it has suspended sale of two versions of Toyota Prado 2010 MY (VX and VX-L) with immediate effect due to concerns regarding the response time of its Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) system in extreme cornering conditions.

“On April 15 we made an announcement regarding the Lexus GX460 model and concerns regarding the response time of its Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) system in extreme cornering conditions,” said Simon Frith, Managing Director of Al Futtaim Motors.

“The resulting investigation by Toyota Motor Corporation has found the same concern with two versions of Toyota Prado 2010 Model Year (VX and VX-L) also fitted with both VSC and KDSS (Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System) Other versions of 2010 Model Year Prado are not affected,” he added.

“I can confirm that we have received notification from Toyota Motor Corporation that the remedy for both the GX460, and Prado VX and VX-L models will involve reprogramming of one of the vehicle’s control units. This reprogramming procedure is currently under development and we will update all affected customers with the progress of this enhancement."

"I can also confirm that there are 367 Prado VX and VX-Ls sold by Al Futtaim Motors requiring this reprogramming.”

“We will be contacting all our Prado VX and VX-L customers to explain the situation and keep them updated as more information becomes available. We will also provide a courtesy car to any Prado VX and VX-L customer who is concerned about driving their vehicle. If any of our customers have further questions they can contact our Customer Care Team on 04 206 6002 (between 8am and 6pm).”

“Al Futtaim Motors will work closely with the UAE’s Ministry of Economy with regard to the resolution of the issue.”
