Dubai: Advanced Composites (AC), one of the producers of Glass Reinforced Piping (GRP) system solutions for the infrastructural sector and a subsidiary of Emaar Industries & Investments, has announced that it has been awarded an Dh58 million contract to supply and install the District Cooling GRP Piping network at Nakheel's Palm Jebel Ali Crescent A project.
AC has supplied over 100 kilometres of GRP pre-insulated pipe systems for a number of District Cooling projects in the UAE.
AC will provide over 20 kilometres of GRP pipes for this particular project with the pipes ranging in diameter from 50 to 800 millimetres. The contract will also see AC supply and install the valves required for the district cooling services. All the GRP products will be manufactured at AC's manufacturing facility in Al Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah.
AC has helped pioneer the usage of GRP pipe systems in the application of district cooling in the region and it is fast becoming the material of choice for projects across the UAE and GCC. The main rationale behind this is the low life cycle costs involved with GRP systems and the reliability associated with the products. GRP systems are corrosion resistant and therefore lead to negligible maintenance costs.
