Dubai: International business software and hardware company Oracle is set to launch a massive recruitment campaign across Africa and the Middle East in the hunt for new employees in the tech sector and beyond.

Oracle confirmed with Gulf News on Monday that it is looking at hiring 1,700 new employees to support steady growth forecasts for the Mena region.

Officials, however, declined to elaborate fully on the hirings when contacted but said more details would be forthcoming as the recruitment is rolled out across the region.

Abdul Rahman Al Thehaiban, vice-president of Oracle Middle East & Africa, said in a statement that the hirings are needed to shore up increasing demand for the company's services.

"This is an exciting time for Oracle. Hiring 1,700 new colleagues will help to further fuel growth across all lines of our EMEA business and reflects the demand which exists for our end-to-end provision of hardware and software which is designed and engineered to work together," Al Thehaiban said.

"That approach is proving hugely popular with customers and the resulting growth presents us with an opportunity to create more jobs across the region. We are very proud to work with some of the largest and most innovative companies in the world and need people who are excited by the challenges that brings."

Oracle said that it works with the "entire Fortune 100" of companies around the world which translates into opportunities for recruits who "will get a chance to network with the brightest and the best in the industry."
