Dubai: The Al Rostamani Group believes that their participation in the Dubai Shopping Festival shows their commitment and support to Dubai's vision.

The group, founded in 1957 and one of the largest and oldest conglomerates in the UAE, has been a key sponsor of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) for 14 years.

Marwan Abdullah Al Rostamani, Chairman of Al Rostamani Group, said on Thursday: "The group's participation in [the] DSF is a [reflection of] our values of commitment [to] and care [for] the society and business environment and sharing the vision of new ideas."

"We are proud to support the DSF every year and remain committed to contributing to the success of the festival, which has established Dubai not only as the shopping centre of the world but as a global business and tourist destination."

The first DSF was held in 1996 as a shopping event. Since then it has gone from strength to strength, gaining increased global recognition and becoming one of the world's premier shopping events.

Thousands of international visitors flock to Dubai each year to enjoy the shopping and leisure festivities, bringing in millions of dirhams in revenue to the emirate.

Al Rostamani said: "The DSF, when [it was] launched in 1996, started out as a pure shopping event. "However, over the last 15 years it has evolved into something much more, incorporating cultural, sporting and benevolent events.

"The DSF has also generated a keen following, especially in the region, [with] people looking forward to this particular event."

Values

Al Rostamani believes this is a fundamental reason for their continuing participation in this pioneer regional event which resonates well with the group's values.

Moreover, the group will continue to be at the forefront in supporting the Shopping Festival, which has become a traditional and symbolic festival that continues to attract both residents and tourists, he added.

Al Rostamani said that the purpose of supporting such a huge annual festival was not purely a commercial one.

He said it was more of a substantiation of the group's support for community activities and initiatives that boost Dubai as a leading destination.

"The purpose of the group's participation in the festival goes beyond the commercial aspect of the event.

"The Shopping Festival clearly provides the necessary framework and opportunity for the business community and retailer at large to benefit from it commercially."

"The group views its participation and involvement in the festival as an integral part of its commitment towards supporting the bright initiatives by the government of Dubai."
