Abu Dhabi: The UAE signed an agreement on exchange of information for tax purposes with Norway, the Ministry of Finance said on Wednesday.

The agreement was signed by Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs and Siv Jensen, Norwegian Minister of Finance in the presence of Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of MoF, and other officials.

Commenting on the agreement Al Tayer stressed the UAE’s commitment to expanding its network of agreements on exchange of information for tax purposes and adopting the best international standards when implementing these agreements.

Positive impact

“The MoF continues its efforts to strengthen the UAE’s financial, economic, and trade relations through signing agreements on the exchange of information for tax purposes,” he said.

“These partnerships have a positive impact in attracting foreign investments and expertise, which leads to enhancing the country’s overall economic growth. The Ministry is working on a review of the financial and economic model as well as the country’s successes in the sustainable economic development process.”

Al Tayer headed a UAE delegation to Scandinavian countries including Norway, Denmark and Sweden. The visit is aimed at exploring ways of developing and promoting technical partnership as well as exchanging experience on financial and economic affairs between the two parties.
