Wellington: Business leaders of the UAE and New Zealand on Monday discussed ways to improve mutual cooperation in trade and investment.

The UAE business delegation is accompanying Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, on his visit to the country.

The delegation took part in a forum organised yesterday by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, and was incubated by "Kinston Swan Advisory Company".

Juma Mohammad Al Keit, Executive Director of Foreign Trade Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Trade, in his opening speech said the UAE is looking to enhance the prospects of trade and investment partnerships with New Zealand.

Important partners

He pointed out that the UAE is one of the most important trading partners of New Zealand in the Middle East, where the volume of non-oil trade between the two sides has reached about NZ$369 million (Dh932.8 million).

He noted the importance of creating more trade and investment partnerships between the two countries, especially in energy, tourism, logistics, professional services, education and agriculture sectors, and that there is a great potential for cooperation in the field of clean energy technology, and alternative and renewable energy.
