Abu Dhabi : A report by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the UAE's financial policy and measures taken by the country to face the effects of the global financial crisis was the main focus of a Ministerial Service Council’s meeting in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

Pesided over by Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the council, the council reviewed recommendations by the IMF report within the framework of the UAE's keenness to cooperate and interact with international organisations.

The council has instructed authorities concerned to conduct a comprehensive study on waste management policies and ways of waste treatment and recycling in some Northern Emirates.

The study is aimed assessing the current situation and coming up with proposed solutions to develop the already followed current ways and adopt modern treatment methods.

The council also discussed a number of topics and reports submitted by federal departments and bodies and took the appropriate decisions.
