DUBAI: Abdullah Bin Ahmad Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy for Foreign Trade and Industry, and Pablo Campana, Minister of Foreign Trade of Ecuador, have discussed ways to strengthen economic relations and develop trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

During their meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy in Dubai, the two sides discussed means of establishing a new phase of cooperation, enhancing trade exchanges between the two countries and activating UAE investments in vital sectors in Ecuador.

Al Saleh said that the UAE is keen to develop cooperation with Ecuador, pointing out that the trade exchange between the two countries reached $55 million (Dh202 million) in 2016.

Campana said that the economic achievements in the UAE represent a distinctive and pioneering development model, expressing his country’s interest in cooperating with the UAE and benefiting from its rich development experience in many fields and building fruitful partnership relations at the governmental and private levels.

He also referred to his country’s interest in exchanging experiences and knowledge with the UAE in the field of ports and to benefit from the model of Jebel Ali Port and its free zone.
