Dubai: Sony will launch the gaming market's most expensive console - PlayStation 3 - tomorrow at all its outlets in the UAE.
Jumbo Electronics has shipped in 5,000 units and expects to sell around 3,500 on the first day.
The PlayStation 3 will be available in two hard drive options - 20GB and 60GB. Only the 60GB version, with a Blu-ray drive, will be available at the launch. It is priced at Dh2,499.
The 20GB version is likely to be available later. Gamers will be able to upgrade their consoles later.
"At the heart of the PlayStation 3 lies a CPU that'll impress even the most hardcore PC gamer. This powerful, multi-core cell processor runs at 3.2 GHz," said Arvind Nair, CEO of Jumbo. "It [PlayStation 3] is 40 times faster than the chip that runs PS2 computer entertainment system."
"The online network will be a free service. You'll be able to see when friends are online in order to chat with them by video, voice, or text, or you can play online with gamers in US."
Over 100 titles to be available at the launch.
