Paris: The Offset Programme Bureau (OPB) has announced a new policy for the UAE Offset Programme that entails further flexibility, ease of implementation and more involvement by defence contractors. The bureau also announced creation of the Offset Committee and the Defence Contractors Council.
The announcement was made by the OPB's Chief Executive Officer Saif Mohammad Al Hajiri at a special session held on June 13 in Paris, a day before the official opening of land/air defence and security (Eurosatory2010). The event was attended by 165 delegates, including Major General Ali Mohammad Subaih Al Ka'abi, Deputy Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, high ranking officers from the UAE armed forces, members of the UAE Embassy in Paris, officials of the OPB and Tawazun and defence companies representatives.
"The new policy was developed following extensive discussions among all stakeholders and based on results of a survey conducted by the OPB," Al Hajiri said.
