The Dubai Economic Council (DEC) in collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) will jointly launch the IMF’s “Regional Economic Outlook for the Middle East and North Africa” Report at a media seminar that will be held on Monday at Conrad Hotel-Dubai, at 12.30pm.

The IMF publishes the Regional Economic Outlook (REO) to track the evolution of economic activity in Mena region. It is a survey of economic developments and prospects for the region over the near and medium term. The report also discusses major economic policy issues and provides forecasts of key economic indicators, such as GDP, inflation, current account, and fiscal balance.

Participants in the event will include representatives of local and federal departments, along with public and private major companies operating in Dubai, representatives of the IMF and other international and regional organisations, and international experts, in addition to media.

At the beginning of the seminar, Hani Al Hamli, DEC Secretary-General will deliver a welcome note, followed by Hesham Al Qasim, board member of DIFC Authority. Dr Abdul Rahman Al Hamidy, Director General Chairman of the Board of Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) would deliver an honorary note. After that, Dr Masoud Ahmad, Director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department will present the key findings of the REO Report and the most important policy recommendations for the UAE and the region.

In addition to the presentation, a high-profile panel discussion will be conducting that encompasses stakeholders from different industries. In addition to Dr Masoud Ahmad, the panel will bring together: Ashok Aram, CEO, Middle East & North Africa, Deutsche Bank, Abeer Odeh, CEO, Capital Market Authority, Palestine, and Dr Mohammad Lahouel, Chief Economist, Dubai Economic Development Department. The panel is designed to exchange views and insights about the regional and global economy, as well as lessons learnt for Dubai and the UAE’s future development agenda.
