Abu Dhabi: A total 28 Canadian agri-food companies, four associations and well as 12 specialised Canadian beef companies will be taking part in the Canadian Pavilion at the Gulf Food Expo 2013 in its 18th edition being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre till February 28, 2013.

Canadian Ambassador to the UAE Arif Z. Lalani said: “Gulfood is the world’s largest annual food trade show, showcasing more than 50,000 brands across every sector of the food and beverage industry. We are proud to see such a large number of Canadian exhibitors and participants. They will give you a taste of the best Canada has to offer. Quality is in our nature.”

Lalani added that the opportunities for Canadian food exporters are growing in the UAE and the region. Demand for sophisticated and diversified products is increasing from commodities to speciality gourmet products.

“Canada is known for its high quality products. This region imports large quantities of food products and there are also tremendous opportunities for food exports from the UAE. Canada exports over 70 per cent of its agriculture and agri-food, making Canada one of the top five global agriculture exporters,” said Lalani.
