Dubai: Masdar has signed a three-year service agreement with National Central Cooling Company (Tabreed) to operate its first district cooling plant with operations under way.
According to a WAM report, Tabreed will manage the district cooling plant on behalf of Masdar and provide expertise as well as operations and maintenance services.
“Selecting the right partner to support for the operations and maintenance of our first district cooling plant was key. The plant is a central part of the smart energy system we are building at Masdar,” said Mohammad Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar.
Masdar, wholly owned by the Mubadala Investment Company, is Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company.
With 72 district cooling plants located throughout the region, Tabreed currently delivers over one million refrigeration tonne, a unit of power to describe the heat-extraction capacity of air conditioning equipment, to key developments in the region.
“We are delighted to be working with Masdar to support their district cooling and sustainability needs. This agreement is testament to Tabreed’s operations and maintenance capabilities garnered across plants in the region over the last 20 years,” said Jasim Thabet, CEO of Tabreed.
