Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, on Tuesday received Sergey Brin, Google co-founder and President of Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc.

They explored prospects for future cooperation with Google through joint ventures, aiming to harness the latest information technologies and develop information cyberspace to serve mankind in all domains.

Shaikh Hamdan praised Brin’s inspirational experiences and his story that culminated in the establishment of Google along with his friend Larry Page.

“It is an inspiring story as Sergey Brin along with his friend Larry Page succeeded in founding Google from a dorm room to a giant company that is today worth over $600 billion,” Shaikh Hamdan said. “Their goal is to organise the world’s knowledge and make it available for all.”

Shaikh Hamdan referred to the similarities between Brin and Page’s story and the story of Dubai. “Sergey and Larry’s inspiring story is similar to Dubai’s story as both share the same passion to build the future. They created the future of knowledge; and we created a model city that represents the future of urbanism and service.

“In partnership and cooperation with Brin and Page, we can contribute positively to the future of humanity,” Shaikh Hamdan said.

“We seek to establish Dubai as the world’s largest laboratory for future technology. Dubai has made great strides in its approach towards the future thanks to the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,” Shaikh Hamdan added.

Shaikh Mohammad had realised very early the importance of building a society based on a knowledge economy and investing in science and linking development with advanced technologies, Shaikh Hamdan said anc called on Arab youths to learn from Brin and Page’s leadership experience and draw inspiration from their innovative work and success story. “We urge Arab youths to learn from the story of finding Google in making stories of success.”
