Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dewa, has awarded contracts to design, manufacture, test and supply 1,570 cast resin distribution transformers, with capacities of 11/0.4kV, and 1,000 and 1,500 kVA equipped with low-voltage smart meters, to a number of leading specialist international institutions.

This is part of Dewa’s ongoing efforts to meet various requirements to expand the electricity distribution network, and provide its services reliably, efficiently and availably to world-class standards. The contracts are worth approximately Dh129.55 million.

In a press statement, Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dewa, said that the authority is actively implementing vital projects and is one of the most outstanding service-institutions in the world, according to standard comparisons with its counterparts in developed countries.

“Dewa has made great achievements in the efficiency, reliability, sustainability, and management of its optimal-investment infrastructure, as well as the operation of its networks. It focuses on availability, reliability and efficiency in all its services, and is proactively developing and improving all its processes to achieve excellence in everything it does,” he added.

“These transformers will increase the capacity, efficiency and reliability of the electricity distribution network in Dubai, to ensure a continuous and stable supply of power to all stakeholders. All the transformers will be delivered by April 2018,” Al Tayer concluded.
