London: A nine-year-old boy was threatened with isolation by his school teachers after he got his hair cut like English club Arsenal star Olivier Giroud.
Danny Purdy saved seven euro (Dh29 or $8) of his pocket money to get a style like that of his favourite player, the Daily Mail reported on Wednesday.
Danny’s mother Sarah has refused to send him to Brooklands Middle School in Bedfordshire after teachers threatened him with isolation.
“We genuinely didn’t think a haircut like Danny’s was breaking the rules. As long as children wear their school uniforms correctly and work hard at school, I really don’t see what the problem is,” added Sarah.
But head teacher Steven Harrington-Williams has defended the school’s stance and said they had held an assembly on uniform policy prior to the cut.
