Cairo: The Council of Senior Scholars at Al Azhar Mosque praised the UAE for supporting Egypt in overcoming the crisis it faced over the last few years.
The council commended the UAE’s tireless efforts in serving Arab and Islamic nations, and its resolve to fulfil the interests of Islam and Muslims.
During the meeting held on Monday, which was chaired by Shaikh Ahmad Mohammad Al Tayyeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar, the council members expressed their thanks to the UAE’s leadership for its support of Al Azhar in its scientific and religious march, its protection of noble Islamic values and efforts to counter violence, extremism and terrorism.
In a statement, Al Azhar stressed the importance of the visit by General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to Al Azhar, which was made within the framework of friendship and respect, and to exchange views and express continued support in various fields and to spread Islam’s message of tolerance.
