Abu Dhabi: The value of non-oil foreign trade through Abu Dhabi ports stood at Dh159.9 billion in 2017, of which Dh13.2 billion was the total value of the capital’s non-oil foreign trade last December, an increase of 3.4 per cent compared to the same month of 2016.

According to Sunday’s official statistics issued by the Statistics Centre-Abu Dhabi (SCAD), the value of Abu Dhabi’s non-oil exports reached Dh22.6 billion in 2017, while re-exports and imports amounted to Dh1.7 billion and Dh115.5 billion respectively.

These figures include the trade of non-oil goods that entered or exited through Abu Dhabi’s land, air and seaports — but did not include all the capital’s trade with the world, especially as there are commercial activities being conducted through other emirates’ ports. The figures also do not include Abu Dhabi’s internal trade with other emirates.

Industrial supplies accounted for 90 per cent of Abu Dhabi’s exports during 2017, amounting to Dh20.4 billion, while the value of non-oil exports stood at Dh955 billion in the same period with about Dh826 million have gone for the exports of consumer goods.

In terms of re-export trade, transport equipment, parts and accessories came in first place with a value of Dh9.4 billion, or 43.3 per cent of the total of this type of trade, followed by capital goods with Dh4.5 billion, consumer goods with Dh4.4 billion and industrial supplies with Dh3 billion

On the imports level, the value of Abu Dhabi’s imports from industrial supplies was about Dh43.7 billion, or 37.8 per cent of total imports in 2017.

Meanwhile, imports of transport equipment and parts amounted to Dh33.9 billion, while capital goods, consumer goods and food and beverage imports came in at Dh22.4 billion, Dh7 billion and Dh6.23 billion respectively.
