Dubai: Social media users express their anger over a video of Egyptian children, between the ages of 10 to 15, smoking shisha in a café in Upper Egypt.
The video shows four different groups of boys passing out the shisha pipe to each other.
Two of the minors fought over the pipe and another pair played around with the smoke.
Twitter users called for an investigation of the café and its owners to be held accountable by law and to receive the appropriate punishment, Al Arabiya reported.
The Ministry of Health has previously banned serving cigarettes and shisha to children.
Yet, according to The Tobacco Atlas, an online resource and companion book that map the nature and magnitude of the tobacco epidemic, more than 40,000 children between the ages of 10 and 14 in Egypt still consume tobacco.
Social media users emphasized the importance of parental control to protect the children from this dangerous activity.
Some said that parental control can also keep the children away from bad company that could influence their behaviours.
Also, they stressed how important it is to educate the families about the danger of tobacco to keep the youngsters safe.
In 2017, Al Arabiya also shared pictures of children smoking during Eid Al Adha holiday at cafes in Alexandria, Damietta and Mit Ghamr in the Dakahlia governorate.
Other fuming tweeps shared the photos in hopes of reaching the parents of the children.
