Dubai: A Starbucks coffee staff in Dubai was honoured here after returning a bag containing $118,000 and some passports, which was forgotten by a tourist.

Miran Karki from Nepal, who works with Starbucks, found the bag at the coffee chain’s Mall of the Emirates branch.

He helped police return the bag to the tourist.

Karki was in for a pleasant surprise when a team of police officers visited him at his workplace and presented a certificate of appreciation to him in the presence of his colleagues.

Colonel Mohammad Aqeel Ahli, deputy director of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, praised Karki for his honesty.

“We have an initiative to honour people who cooperate with Dubai Police. It is a simple gesture compared to what he did. He set an example to the public of what they should do in such incidents,” Col Ahli said.
