The Mawaheb artists have interpreted the works of Alberto Giacometti.

Mawaheb from Beautiful People, the Dubai-based art studio for adults with special needs, is presenting “Giacometti”, an exhibition of paintings and sculptures inspired by the works of the famous Swiss artist. The Mawaheb artists have created their own interpretations of Alberto Giacometti’s works such as “The Walking Man” to reflect their perspective on life.

“Our aim is to break down boundaries and stigmas associated with people with special needs by integrating them into society and demonstrating that each individual can be creative in their own unique way. The Mawaheb studio is a space where student artists can learn artistic skills and develop their self-confidence in a relaxed, safe environment. After many successful exhibitions at prestigious galleries in Dubai, our artists have made a place for themselves in Dubai’s arts scene. Now, we want to invite the whole community to visit our studio and see their latest creations, enjoy a cup of coffee at our café, and spend some time with our artists and volunteers,” Wemmy de Maaker, founder of the studio, says.

Jyoti Kalsi is an arts-enthusiast based in Dubai.

“Giacometti” will be open from 6 to 9pm on November 26, and from 8.30am to 3pm from Sunday to Thursday until December 13. Mawaheb is located in Villa No. 11 in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood.
