You arrived in Dubai just a couple of weeks back. What are your impressions of the city?

When I landed in Dubai, I was slightly unnerved by the sweltering heat. But I soon got accustomed to it. Moving to Dubai is an overwhelming experience for me. The city is simply incredible with so many nationalities living together. I have found Emiratis very friendly and hospitable.

What are your plans for furthering bilateral relations between the Netherlands and the UAE?

Our bilateral relations are embedded in a solid mutual understanding and respect for each other. Now it is time to find out how we can further strengthen our relationship.

The Netherlands’ infrastructure and stable political environment make it one of the most exciting places in Europe to invest and do business. Everybody is aware of the logistics facilities at the port of Rotterdam and Schiphol Amsterdam Airport. Though investments from the UAE are growing in recent years, we want more companies to explore investment opportunities in the Netherlands. The Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) in Dubai can also assist UAE investors with launching businesses in the Netherlands.

Dutch expertise in dredging and land reclamation is renowned the world over. We can also offer our know-how in the financial and hospitality services.
