Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza opens in Abu Dhabi

1997 - The Dh150 million Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza, the second in the UAE, was officially opened in Abu Dhabi. It is the latest five-star hotel to join the competition for the burgeoning conferences and exhibitions sector in the UAE. Situated in the heart of Abu Dhabi’s business district on Hamdan Street, the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza was formally opened by Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of Emirates University and Higher Colleges of Technology. Mohammad Abdul Jalil Al Fahim, chairman and managing director of Al Fahim Group, which owns the new hotel and the Dubai Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza, said the new establishment would increase competition among hotels in the UAE capital.
