Louis Vuitton has paid tribute to the olfactory culture of the Middle East since 2018, and now the brand has revealed another fragrance inspired by the region. Dubbed Fleur du Désert, the perfume features three native Middle-Eastern flowers that evoke perfumery all over the world, including jasmine, orange blossom and rose.

For the fifth fragrance in the collection, Louis Vuitton’s Master Perfumer sought to capture the essence of these wonderful scents. Inspired by the deserts of the region, which despite their often inhospitable conditions, evoke unforgettable emotions.

After his several visits to the region, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, the Master Perfumer for the brand, talks of the striking contrasts, which served as an inspiration. From scorching days to freezing nights – the fragrance seeks to capture this dichotomy of the region.

To create Fleur du Désert, Jacques immersed himself in the "absolute beauty" of on oasis. In fact, Louis Vuitton's Master Perfumer was successful in capturing this image in a colourful signature brimming with contrasts.

Jasmine, orange blossom, rose: originally from the Middle East, are three flowers that have become emblematic for Western perfumery.

"They were brought to Europe by caravan from different regions in the Orient," explains Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. "My idea was simply to stage these natural wonders in their original selling."

"I didn’t want oriental accord in the Western sense of the term, but one that truly speaks of the culture and beauty that are unique to the region,” the perfumer says.

The perfume features the suave facets of a floral bouquet, which is accentuated by cinnamon, and is warm as the desert wind. The fragrance is enveloped in precious "nectar of flowers", which makes it only grow better and more sophisticated as time passes.
