Payment processor Visa has appointed Marcello Baricordi as general manager for the Middle East and North Africa (Mena), it said in a statement this week.

Baricordi, who has been with Visa for nearly 10 years, replaces Ihab Ayoub, who is leaving Visa for “personal reasons.” The new general manager will be responsible for all aspects of Visa’s operations in Mena.

“This region is moving rapidly towards digital and mobile commerce. This is being driven by proactive and visionary government agendas, innovation-led financial institutions and merchants, and tech-savvy consumers,” Baricordi stated.
