Brother unveils Innobella printers for digital images

Dubai: Brother, the Japanese firm specialising in printers and facsimile machines, says surging sales of digital cameras encouraged the company to invest heavily in several key areas of printer technology.

The company launched its new Innobella range at Gitex (which will go on sale in January), claiming the new ink and paper range will improve the quality of printed digital camera images.

Yoshihisa Tsuji, managing director at Jebel Ali-based Brother Gulf, said the company researched ways of halving the standard droplet size for ink jet printers to produce a crisper picture. "The picture quality of digital cameras is very high and we wanted to replicate that for printed photographs," he said.

Brother also launched its Innobella paper range, saying the company covers the paper surface with a chemical formula coating.

"This ensures a reduction in ink bleeding, resulting in more vivid colours, shaper images and better definition," said Tsuji.

Brother Gulf reported a 33 per cent year-on-year growth for 2005 with total revenues exceeding Dh132 million. "The Middle East is an important market. The explosive growth across the region has opened up significant opportunities," said Tsuji.
