The venue: The Senso Wellness Centre, the spa at the business-centric Radisson Blu Hotel, is an oasis of calm. While it’s a slightly convoluted route to the spa, which is on the second floor of the hotel, the treatment rooms that are studded with murals of elephants and bath-tubs filled with rose petals and mini candles transport you to a tranquil world. We are offered water infused with lime to put us in a relaxed mode. The detox begins now.

The treatment: I opted for the two-hour Javanese Lulur therapy which includes a thorough massage and a mini facial. It’s a great combination because the express facial at the end of this treatment makes sure that your face gets love, apart from your body which gets kneaded and pulled to remove tension.

But out of the two, it’s the Balinese massage with grapeseed oil and a fruit-based mask that shone. My massage therapist opted for an anti-ageing scrub made with mango and passion fruit and expertly kneaded my tired muscles. She applied the right amount of pressure to make the massage so relaxing that I felt myself nod off to sleep. That’s a true testament to a fantastic massage. The head massage was also spot on. This is one of the treatments that’s focused on your entire body.

After your body is rigorously scrubbed, a hot bath is prepared for you so that we can scrub away the grainy mask and then the second part of the massage is launched where the focus is on removing knots from our muscles. After a tired week, the masseuse’s hands felt perfect.

What we liked: The massage was tailored as per my skin type, which is dry, and the masseuse was a paragon of patience and highly-skilled hands were helpful in relaxing my tired muscles.

What we didn’t like: While it was a mini-facial, I wish it also included a clean up of blackheads. Plus, the shower in my massage room wasn’t working well on the day I visited.

Go for: If you’re looking for a stress-buster, this treatment is ideal.
