The UAE’s No.1 professional golfer, Joshua Grenville-Wood, is hoping his game continues to trend in the right direction after the 26-year-old made the cut for the first time in four events at the Black Desert NI Open presented by Tom McKibbin.

Grenville-Wood has struggled with his game of late on the Challenge Tour, failing to make the cut in the three events prior to the NI Open, which has seen him fall down the Road to Mallorca Rankings.

But he bounced back at Galgorm Castle, making the weekend before finishing in a share of 48th to bank some much-needed points on the season-long standings as he looks to finish the season inside the top 20 to secure one of the DP World Tour cards available for next season.

Those that do secure their card will get the opportunity to compete against the likes of Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood on the Race to Dubai schedule, which features the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, Abu Dhabi Championship and the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.

Grenville-Wood is currently ranked 50th and will hope to build on that again this weekend when he takes on the K Club for the Irish Challenge.

“Not the weekend I was hoping for but still some improved golf/scores compared to the last four events,” Grenville-Wood posted on Instagram.

“T48 this week, just not good enough with my irons this week but much better around and on the greens. Lots of good to take into next week for the Irish Challenge in Dublin at the K Club!”

In preparation for the event, the World No. 515 is currently taking on Royal County Down Golf Club in Northern Ireland, which Grenville-Wood says is “better than Augusta,” and “today is going to be the best day of my life.”
