Dubai-based Kristyna Napoleaova shot a final round of level par 72 to finish one under par for 54 holes in her home Open in this week’s €200,000 Tipsport Czech Ladies Open held at Royal Beroun Golf Club.

Her final round, starting on hole 10, consisted of two bogeys and a double, countered by four birdies.

The winner this week was amateur and home player Jana Melichova (Czech Republic) with rounds of 68, 65 and 69 (14 under-par) with fellow Czech Klara Spilkova in tied second along with Nicole Broch Estrup (Den), just one shot back.

Melichova played in the LETAS AMUNDI Czech Ladies Challenge earlier this month, won by Dubai based Chiara Noja (Ger), where she finished tied fourth, 13 shots behind the winner.

She currently lies 105th in the R&A Women’s World Amateur Golf Rankings.

Good week

Napoleaova commented after her round, “It has been a very good week for golf and the Czech Republic. At the moment I am disappointed with my own performance, I just did not get my game going at any time. However, the bigger picture looks very positive with nine Czech Republic girls making the cut, including four amateurs. And Jana won! In the same 2021 event there were 11 invites from the Czech Republic in total, and only four made the cut."

She continued, "This year we also have three players who automatically have LET status compared to none last year. This shows the growth of the ladies’ game in the Czech Republic in just 12 months aligned with our other home event, earlier this month, on the Ladies’ European Tour Access Series (LETAS). We are all excited with this development, it just shows it is all about playing opportunities, hard work as well as some strength in depth and results will follow for our Czech national players.”
