Former Dubai resident leaves the University of Florida after two years

Former Dubai resident Toby Bishop is set to begin a fresh challenge on the U.S. collegiate circuit after announcing he would be transferring from the Florida Gators to Lipscomb Men’s Golf Team.
The Welshman made his collegiate debut for the University of Florida at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate earlier this year but has now decided to move on from the Sunshine State in a bid to help reach his high career aspirations.
He will be joining a team that just last month won the 2024 ASUN Championship for the first time in program history.
“Flipping the page to a new chapter…” Bishop wrote on Instagram.
“I am proud to announce I will play my final 3 years of eligibility at Lipscomb Men’s Golf in Nashville, Tennessee.
“I am extremely grateful for these past two years at The University of Florida and the opportunity that Coach Deacon provided me to be a part of a national championship winning team.
“My teammates truly are brothers for life. However, after many discussions with my family, coaches and agent, I have decided to transfer for the benefit of my own personal development and to help reach my high career aspirations.
“My family and I are very thankful to all the coaches and programs that offered me throughout this transfer portal, I appreciate all the relationships I have built.
“A final thanks to Coach Brewer and Coach Crouch for putting their belief and faith in my character and game, I am going to make the most of this opportunity!
“I am pumped for this upcoming season to get underway with my new family.”
Bishop’s recent highlights include securing a spot in U.S. Open Final Qualifying in 2023, as well as being the first round leader at the Clutch Pro Tour’s Al Hamra Championship earlier this year.
Before heading to the States, Bishop was one of the hottest amateur golfers in the UAE, winning five events from six to top the Emirates Golf Federation’s Order of Merit in 2022.
