Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club Members Ishwar Jodha (HCP 9) and Obediah Ayton (HCP +1) claimed the 2023 Titleist Dubai Golf Pairs Championship after a testing 36-hole battle.

Firstly for all competitors, was the task of an 18-hole qualifier at one of three ‘Dubai Golf’ managed golf courses, Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, Emirates Golf Club and Jumeirah Golf Estates.

18-hole cut

The top 16 pairs at each venue who made the cut on Saturday were then through to the final the following day which was hosted by Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club.

It was then a fresh start for all qualifiers for the final round on Sunday at Dubai Creek as 48 teams battled it out on the par 71 Championship layout.

The winning pair of Jodha and Ayton put together a score of 47 stableford points which was constructed from a front nine of 22 points and strongly coming home carding 25 points.

They in fact claimed victory via countback after they were matched on that score by two other pairs. Emirates Golf Club Members Annabel Ayres (HCP 11) and Bradley Webb (HCP 13) who would take second spot despite a strong finish to their back nine with 13 points in their last four holes. And Dubai Creek Members Ravi Khanna (HCP 16) and Roma Khanna (HCP 25) who had to settle for third place, back-to-back four pointers for Roma on Holes 5 and 6 the teams highlight.

The Gross Division was impressively also claimed by Jodha and Ayton with 43 points (gross 64). A five point win from Emirates Golf Club Members Ross Barlow and Sanjay Dhandsa in second who had 38 points (gross 69), and in third were Jumeirah Golf Estates Members Jayson Hilton and Stuart Carr with 36 points (gross 71).
