Jumeirah Golf Estates hosted all the Dubai Golf clubs in the Clash of the Titans event over the Earth course.
This event saw club management and Pros, teaming up with members of their respective clubs, to win prizes as well as bragging rights.
The format was a four-person team Texas Scramble. The team’s received a 50% course handicap combination with the lowest handicapper having 25%, and the highest 10%. The ladies were teeing up from the orange tee markers and the gents playing from the green tournament tees.
There were 80 participants making up four teams: Emirates Golf Club (EGC), Dubai Creek (DCGYC) and Jumeirah Golf Estates (JGE). The fourth team were the Viya Golf team who made the trip from Abu Dhabi represented by; Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, Yas Links and Yas Acres.
Astonishingly, all four teams tied for 1st place, scoring 72 (level par). This is the first time in the competition’s history that something like this has happened.
With the scores being as tight as they were, the JGE management team determined the outright winner as the best-combined scores from the top three groups from each Dubai Golf team. Viya Golf took the victory on this basis with a superb score of 49 under. The Viya Golf team have been dominant in this event and have won both of the previous fixtures that they have taken part in.
The overall scores for the best 3 teams from each club are below:
1st - VIYA GOLF 49 Under Par
2nd - DUBAI CREEK 48 Under Par
3rd - EGC 47 Under Par
4th - JGE 44 Under Par
The winning fourball with a very impressive score of 53 net (19 under par) was Kurtis Shortman, Lora Al Marzooqi, Rohan Patki and Joyce Joman (HCP. 13), representing Viya Golf.
Trisha Kumar played a fantastic shot on hole 4 to bring her career hole-in-one tally to 3.
