Dubai: Sujjan Singh (CH3, The Els Club) won the recent 2022 Emirates PGA Championship held at Trump International Golf Club, Dubai.

Two rounds of 69 (-2) in testing windy conditions, for a total of four under par 138, was good enough for a three-shot victory and to hold off a late charge from Olivia Jackson (EGC), who had rounds of 74 and 67.

Steven Munro (PSI, ADGC) finished in solo third with rounds of 73 and 71 (+ 2).

A record 41 Emirates PGA professionals competed in this annual championship on the UAE PGA calendar.

No mean feat

Graham Forbes (PSI, EGC) won the season-long Henrik Stenson Eyewear UAE PGA Matchplay Championship, with the final four hosted at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, after defeating Sujjan Singh in the semi-finals one up.

Forbes faced three-time champion Tom Buchanan (AEGSC) in the final, after his one up win against Purna Sharma (PSI, SGSC). It was a close title-decider, with the match going all the way to the 18th green that witnessed Forbes secure a cool and collected two putt par to take the trophy, which was no mean feat even to reach the 18th green in regulation under the pressure.

Sujjan Singh defeated Purna Sharma in the third place play-off match by 4 & 3.

Thanks were given to sponsors of the UAE PGA Matchplay Championship, Henrik Stenson Eyewear.
