The Senior Champions Tour (TSCT), supported by Gulf News, hosted their first event of the 2022 – 2023 Order of Merit season recently at The Els Club, Dubai.
The overall winner and Division B champion was Mujahid Siddiqui with 43 Stableford points.
Siddiqui, the runner-up from last season’s TSTC 2021 - 2022 Order of Merit, playing off 15 handicap, shot the equivalent of a gross 80 with two balanced nines of 40 on each side in this shotgun start event.
Runner-up in Division ‘B’ with 36 points was Salah Barak Alameri (12).
In Division ‘A’ Dorin Mateui (7) scored 39 points to take the Divisional title with a gross 76.
Best gross
Dorin had two nines of gross 38 to win the Division by four points from Steve Hutton (2) who shot the best gross of the day, 75.
The format of all TSCT events is Stableford with full Handicap Index with a Maximum Course Index of 24.
The Prize Presentation included an entertaining Q&A session with Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri, who is in Dubai passing through on his way to play in Thailand next week.
The TSCT is open to all golfers resident in the UAE, aged 50 years and over on the day of joining the Tour, both men and ladies, who are like minded golfers having fun and networking through the platform of golf, who must hold an official Emirates Golf Federation handicap.
The co-founder of the TSCT, Vijay Vasu, who organizes the Tour through his company Golf & Co, said at the prize presentation, “We are thrilled with our first event of the season at The Els Club. We thank GM Tom Rourke and his team at The Els Club for their excellent organization for the day. Our TSCT Vision is to add value to our regular events, which includes member-guest opportunities as well as providing special prizes as well as a unique experience for all our members and guests.”
Joint member
To join as a member of TSCT there is a one-off lifetime membership fee of Dhs 995.
In addition, members are required to pay for each TSCT event with many events allowing member guests to play with a separate division of prizes.
The TSCT is sanctioned by the Emirates Golf Federation.
