Two curtain raiser Pro-Ams took place this week for the $2 million Ras Al Khaimah Championship at Al Hamra Golf Club on the DP World Tour.

On Monday night under the floodlights, a nine-hole Pro-Am with 11 teams was won with a 16 under-par score by the team of Professional George Coetzee (RSA) and Amateurs: Simbat Pogosyan, Stamen Stanchev and Salek Al Aroud to win by one shot from the team captained by Professional Richie Ramsay (Scot).

Highlight of the evening golf was an eagle two on hole six by scratch golfer Kerrod Grey, which saw his team captained by Professional Matthieu Pavon (Fr), finish 11 under-par and in sixth place.

Today’s (Wednesday) second Pro-Am with 20 teams was played over 18 holes with the team captained by Rafa Cabrera Bello (Spain) the winners with a score of 36 under par for a six shot victory. The Amateurs in the team were Ashok Kumar, Stamen Stanchev and Simbat Pogosyan with Stanchev and Pogosyan winning both Pro-Ams.

The format of the Pro-Ams was ‘Par is your friend - Tour Scramble.’ All players teed off with the Pro selecting the best ball to play. All three Amateurs played from this spot until the ball is holed and the Pro always played his own ball.

The total of all the players scores under par on each hole, formed the team score with full handicap allowance and a maximum of 18 for men and 24 for ladies.
