The Fire course at Jumeirah Golf Estates recently hosted a New Members’ Scramble event.
Twenty players took part in the event. The teams comprised newly joined members of Jumeirah Golf Estates, long-standing members and the golf management team. Ladies were teeing up from the Orange tee markers, with gents playing off the Signature tee markers. Each team received a 50% course Handicap Allowance from 25% - 20% - 15% - 10% lowest to highest handicaps.
The winners of the May edition of the New Members’ Scramble were the team of Yousuf Al Hashimi, Shames Al Hashimi, Yaser Al Marzooqi and Eric Shehadeh. The team put together a fantastic score over the 9-hole golf event. They scored four net eagles, one net birdie and two regular birdies, amounting to a superb score of net 25, eleven under par.
A stand-out performer was Al Marzooqi, whose putting was sensational and played a massive part in their victory.
There was a selection of special events on the front nine of the Fire course. Winning the Nearest the Pin on hole 2 was a new member, Philip Childs, who put his ball just four feet from the hole. In the second special event, it was long-standing member Arjun Khanna who, on hole 8, managed to hit his ball to within 6 feet of the hole. Two outstanding shots
Whilst concluding the prize-giving presentation, Stephen Hubner, Club Manager at Jumeirah Golf Estates, commented, ‘I am very grateful for some of our existing members for participating today in the fun nine-hole event, which is a great opportunity for new members to integrate into life at Jumeirah Golf Estates.’
